On the November 3 ballot · Initiative I-194

Who paid for
your last election?
corporations.

Every cycle, millions in anonymous corporate cash pours into Montana to drown out the people who live here. It happens on the left and the right. The Montana Plan shuts it off. This November, you decide.

What it is

One Sentence,
One Question.

I-194 would permanently ban corporate money from Montana elections. That’s the whole measure. It isn’t a party position and it doesn’t depend on who wins anything else.

The Montana Supreme Court upheld its constitutionality in April 2026. It goes to voters this November.

What it does

In Plain Terms

The campaign is over. The measure is not.

  • 01 Bans corporate money from Montana elections, permanently.
  • 02 Closes the dark money channels that hide who is actually paying.
  • 03 Applies to every candidate and every party, with no carve-outs.
  • 04 Upheld as constitutional by the Montana Supreme Court in April 2026.
  • 05 On the ballot statewide in November 2026.

The pledge

A Notarized Pledge,
Not A Promise.

Russ was the only candidate in MT-01 who signed a notarized pledge to accept zero PAC money and zero dark money. Every dollar of that campaign came from real people.

The pledge was the proof that the argument wasn’t just rhetoric. I-194 is the version that outlives any one candidate.

Where it stands

Between Now
And November.

The measure is qualified, upheld, and printed. What’s left is whether Montanans know what they’re voting on when they get to it.

The initiative runs on the same kind of support the campaign did: individual people. Donations go to the Transparent Election Initiative, the committee behind I-194.
